00:10
yourself for past mistakes andcultivating a greater sense of
00:15
self-worth.
00:18
Developing self-worth is importantbecause it can boost your confidence,
00:22
help you to achieve your goals, andencourage compassionate self-talk.
00:27
It means that you believe inyour own value as a person.
00:32
Now to begin this meditation,
00:34
find a comfortable spot where youcan relax and close your eyes.
00:41
If you can, try to keepyour spine gently straight.
00:51
Give yourself a few momentsjust to settle into this space,
00:55
making any adjustments you likebefore you let your body fall into
01:00
gentle stillness.
01:12
Taking some time justto observe your breath
01:16
as you let go of any thoughtsabout the past or the future,
01:21
and simply bring your attentioninto the present moment,
01:27
noticing each inhale moving into your body
01:33
and each exhale moving back out.
01:58
One of the obstacles that can hold usback from developing self-worth is holding
02:03
onto flaws or past mistakes.
02:07
Together we are going topractice self-forgiveness.
02:12
This might be challengingor uncomfortable,
02:14
and if you do need to take a break atany time, please feel free to do so.
02:24
Begin to bring to mind something thatyou believe is one of your flaws or a
02:28
mistake you've made in the past asked.
02:32
Try to do this without judging yourself.
02:38
Just observing your perceivedflaw or mistake like it's a color.
02:45
There are no right or wrongcolors. They're just colors.
02:52
Try to see your perceivedflaw or mistake that same way.
03:20
Now begin to focus your attentionon the following statement.
03:25
I am not perfect, nor is anyother human being in the world.
03:32
I am not perfect, nor is anyother human being in the world.
03:39
Let those words and any feelingsthat accompany them sink in,
03:45
you might feel resistance.
03:48
You might feel relief orsomething else entirely.
03:54
Just let it be.
04:25
If your mind has wandered, justbringing it back to that statement,
04:30
I am not perfect, nor is anyother human being in the world.
04:59
Shifting your focusnow to a new statement.
05:04
I forgive myself for my mistakes.
05:09
I forgive myself for my mistakes.
05:15
If this brings up strongthoughts, images, or emotions,
05:20
try taking a few deep breathsas you repeat that statement.
05:25
I forgive myself for my mistakes.
05:59
Starting to move yourattention to another statement.
06:04
I am worthy just as I am.
06:09
I am worthy just as I am.
06:15
You do not need to compareyourself to others.
06:18
You do not need to achieve anything.
06:23
You do not need to be differentfrom who you are right now.
06:28
Simply remembering,
06:31
I am worthy just as I am.
07:04
Let's bring those statements alltogether one more time in your
07:08
mind, repeat each statement after me.
07:13
I am not perfect, nor is anyother human being in the world.
07:25
I forgive myself for my mistakes.
07:33
I am worthy just as I am.
07:43
Take some time to rest yourmind and body for a few moments.
07:47
Letting this meditation sink in.
07:51
You can let your mind wander.
07:54
You might even like todo some gentle stretches,
07:59
or you can continue being in stillness,
08:03
allowing your mind to rest.
08:24
Developing self-worth is somethingthat can take time, practice,
08:28
and patience.
08:30
Please don't worry if you found thismeditation challenging or if you felt
08:33
resistance. This can be perfectly normal.
08:37
I recommend that you return to thismeditation as many times as you like and
08:42
notice if it becomes easierthe more you practice it.
08:47
Remember that self-worth doesn't dependon your achievements, your successes,
08:52
your failures, or your mistakes.
08:55
Self-worth is your sense ofintrinsic value as a person,
08:59
and you deserve to have that.
