ALUCA Life Insurance Excellence Awards

At the recent ALUCA Awards in Sydney, AIA Australia achieved some great results, highlighting our passion for delivering the best outcomes for our valued clients, advisers and partners.

In June, the ALUCA Awards were held in Sydney. ALUCA is the body focused on increasing the professionalism of the life insurance industry through education, development and connection.
 
AIA Australia secured one win and were finalists in many categories, highlighting our passion for delivering the best outcomes for our valued clients, advisers and partners.

Winner

  • David Mico Award - Mervyn Lam, Senior Underwriter. Mervyn was recognised for his consistency in his educational pursuits and also his ongoing efforts to share his knowledge and experience with his peers, going above and beyond his usual workload.

  • Leadership - Matthew Hardy, Senior Claims Manager. Matt was nominated for the ongoing work he has done to empower and drive his claims team in challenging circumstances. Matt has gone above and beyond in his role by increasing engagement and service levels significantly.

  • Professional of the Year - Carmen Choo, Senior Underwriter. Carmen has been an outstanding Underwriter and contributor, to not only our Retail Underwriting team, but the wider AIA business in 2021.

  • Rising Star - Michelle D’Souza, Manager, Claims team. Michelle was nominated for the instrumental role she plays as a leader to her team, customers and clients and other stakeholders as well as her ability to think outside the square to promote diversity in our environment and support development opportunities.

  • Underwriting Team of the Year - AIA Retail Underwriting team. We are proud of our team and the work that they do everyday to support our customers and adviser partners. By providing clear, fair and accurate underwriting decisions and ensuring that there is continuous improvement, the team also enhances the reputation and sustainability of the life insurance industry.

  • Innovation Team of the Year - AIA Shared Value & Rehab teams in partnership with CancerAid. We would also like to congratulate the team for their contribution to the release of the research paper, A retrospective cohort analysis of return-to-work outcomes for cancer survivors using a digital coaching intervention, in the Journal of Clinical Oncology that you can read more about here.
