While we try not to think about the worst happening, what if it did? What would your clients do if their life changed in an instance. Read Brad's story, how one day changed his future in the blink of an eye.

Meet Brad

Brad* a 51-year-old employed CEO of a multinational company was unable to work following a fall off a ladder that resulted in multiple injuries including several fractures from his nose, arms and pelvic area down to his toe. Brad initially underwent emergency surgery to his nose and his bilateral wrists to repair and stabilise the fractures.

Following the surgeries, Brad was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital to undergo in-patient rehabilitation inclusive of intensive physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology/psychiatry, and social work support.

Whilst still engaged in his in-patient rehabilitation program, the AIA Rehabilitation team reached out to discuss the options available to Brad and help assist in building his physical capacity to support a return to work. AIA continued to monitor Brad's progress with his in-patient and subsequent out-patient rehabilitation and completed a referral for Exercise Physiology support once he was ready to transition to a strength-based rehabilitation program.

Brad suffered multiple setbacks both physically and psychologically and required further surgery. Unfortunately, Brad was also made redundant from his role CEO role, leaving him feeling stressed, anxious and uncertain about his future.

After completing his rehabilitation program, Brad had improved both his physical capacity as well as building his confidence in his ongoing and continued recovery. By independently managing and modifying his rehabilitation program, Brad had commenced some volunteer work with a start-up organisation with a view to return to paid employment in the near future once provided with full clearance to perform his pre-disability tasks.
Brad advised:
"It's the program that got me through the physical and the mental setbacks that I was having. To be honest having the support from the Exercise Physiologist was priceless throughout this time."
