AIA Healthiest Schools program plus prizes

Children today face a host of new threats linked to unhealthy lifestyles and diets, climate change, pollution, injury, violence and inequality, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO)[1]. Further, WHO research shows that investing in children’s health, education and wellbeing brings substantial returns for societies.

Recognising this, in late 2022 AIA Australia launched its Kids’ Health and Wellbeing in Australia Report which highlighted opportunities to increase education in the community about children’s health and wellbeing, as well as support the development of lasting healthy habits.
 
The Report underpins the AIA Healthiest Schools Program which has launched in line with Term One of school commencing! The AIA Healthiest Schools Program features a competition, with schools able to win over $100,000 in prizes and experiences. 

A specialist program to encourage healthy habits in students

The program is intended to encourage healthy habits among students aged five to 16 by promoting healthy eating, active lifestyles, mental wellbeing and health and sustainability in schools.
 
The program was designed by global education specialist EVERFI and was peer-reviewed by Australian teachers. The content of the program covers the themes of Healthy Eating, Active Lifestyles, Mental Wellbeing and Health and Sustainability.
 
Teachers can access free, engaging curriculum-linked resources that can be easily adapted into existing teaching plans. Each lesson highlights for teachers how it fits in with the Australian national curriculum.

There are some simple steps you can take to benefit future generations. These include:
 
  • Use suggested wording to communicate with (suggested wording):
    • Any clients who are teachers or affiliated with a school. You could run a report within your systems on who fits the criteria
    • Your children’s school
    • Local schools
    • Groups such as sporting clubs that you may be affiliated with
    • Ask friends, colleagues or family with children aged 5-16 to contact their school
  • Share the initiative through your LinkedIn channel – LinkedIn post
